Our Public Service Delivery Officer Skills Bootcamp was delivered 10 sessions over 8 weeks, giving our participants an understanding of the importance of Operational Delivery Officers within the Public Sector.
As an employer this means that not only can you access people that are interested in supporting your communities, but they also have a thorough grounding in the important part you play in the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
Eligibility
To be recruit a participant from the Public Service Delivery Officer Skills Bootcamp, you must be:
Employers:
- A public sector organisation (local authority, Central Government, NHS, school, and more)
- Have suitable job role/s available
- Based in the Liverpool City Region (Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral)
- Offer progression opportunities
Our participants:
- Are aged 19+
- Have the Right to Work in the UK
- Live in the Liverpool City Region (Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral)
- Want to work in the public sector
- Have completed the Public Service Delivery Officer Skills Bootcamp

Welcome to Public Service Delivery Skills Bootcamp. The first session gave participants an overview of the modules and content that was covered during the programme. Plus, the learning outcomes once the course was completed.
The first session gave information about what it is like to work in delivery role in the public sector and the kind of roles that the Skills Bootcamp will help participants secure.
This session also supported participants to access the systems and tools that will used throughout the Public Service Delivery Skills Bootcamp, together with the participant expectations that Woodspeen Training had during the programme.
During this session the particpants covered Safeguarding, ensuring that they are able to recognise a safeguarding or welfare concern and how to report it. It also covered British Values and how these apply to operational delivery.
They learnt how to be self-aware and understand unconcious bias and inclusivity.
This module enabled participants to develop knowledge and understanding of person-centred approaches, including communication in Operational Delivery.
Module 4 saw participants introduced to the policies, procedures, regulations, and laws that are part of Public Delivery, as well as understanding why it is important they are adhered to.
This session enabled participants to gain an understanding of problem solving using different techniques. It outlined different problem solving theories and how to adapt them depending on the situation.
Communication is key when working in the Public Sector. This session helped participants learn different types of communication, how to communicate professionally, and how to communicate to different audiences.
Module 7 outlined the basic principles of leading by example and factors that may affect decision-making.
This module covered 'A Day in the Life' of Public Service Delivery Operational Officers and the specific skills and knowledge they use day to day including an introduction to sector specific careers.
This session gave participants insight into the diverse range of customers and communities served by the Public Sector. This included their rights and expectations, and their needs, from individuals to large multi national organisations.
Module 10 saw participants learn how to use IT systems to manage, share, and store information alongside how to use office equipment correctly.
Public Sector organisations hold vast amounts of information that must be gathered and stored correctly. In module 11, participants learnt about GDPR, how to analyse information, store information, and how to identify potential fraud.
During the final session, delivered face-to-face, participants reviewed the objectives set at the beginning of the programme and identified the next steps they will take in their careers. Although embedded throughout the Skills Bootcamp, this session had a strong focus on CV writing, job search, and interview techniques.
