Case Study: Ingeus - Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy partner

Our ‘Bridging the Gap’ Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy is a pharmacy specific training programme that runs for 10 weeks for 1 day per week. It gives learners an understanding of what it means to work in a pharmacy as a Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician and the role they play in pharmacies across England. As part of the programme, the Skills Bootcamp supports learners access an interview with an employer.

We spoke to Joe Kenworthy, from local partner Ingeus, to see find out the impact the Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy is having on the people they support in Greater Manchester.

Woodspeen Training (WT): Why refer to the Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy?

Joe Kenworthy (JK): The Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy has been great for our participants on the Restart Scheme as it’s a fresh new course where there has been a gap in the market!

The Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy is very well set up and rewarding for all candidates that go on to it, they are very supported and is great to receive feedback on how they are getting on which not many providers do!

The Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy also offers guaranteed interviews which is great for job prospects and also confidence for people who have struggled to get interviews in the past.

Venetia Hardiman also invited me and some colleagues along to their first awards event which was amazing, you can really see the difference its made to those on the course and provided a good insight to the content.

WT: What made you support the Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy programme?

JK: I first found out about the Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy through Venetia who has been promoting the service around Greater Manchester. Venetia has been so great and instrumental in gaining referrals and also engaging with our advisors and participants!

Venetia has been to events in both Stockport and Tameside offices which have been a great success and had plenty of participants sit down and sign them selves up. Venetia also gifts advisors with the most referrals which is such a good way to keep the relationship and keep the Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy at the front of people’s minds.

We will do sessions for specific interview skills/questions, help with applications and job searching to help progress the participants to gain employment within pharmacies as soon as we can.
