New observation guidance for pharmacy learners

Woodspeen Pharmacy Apprenticeships has issued new guidance on how to prepare for observations. We spoke to Danielle Chadderton, as one of the first learners to utilise this guidance, to get her top tips on how to prepare for observations.

Paperwork

  • The paperwork provided is a really helpful and easy guide to use to be ready for the observation. It tells you exactly what needs to be covered for each specific unit for each observation. Read, and if you can, print these to run through ahead of time

Practice makes perfect

  • I make sure I practice my answers before my observation, refreshing my knowledge. It’s also helped my confidence

It’s ok to be nervous

  • I've found that with all observations, I am nervous beforehand due to the feeling of being watched, but it's amazing how easy and obvious the answers are, as they’re in every little thing we do day in day out. With the observations, I've surprised myself and feel relieved and happy when they have finished - yes because they're over with but also because it turns out I've done a good job and it is much easier than the worry you might have!
