Case Study: Billy Jordan Mayer - Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy

Billy was actively looking for Pharmacy roles. When his work coach suggested the Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy to him, he jumped at the chance. The 10 week course gave Billy a deeper understanding and knowledge about working in a Pharmacy, enabling him to achieve his goal.

Name: Billy Jordan Mayer

Age: 23

Course: Skills bootcamp in Pharmacy

Woodspeen Training (WT): Why did you choose your course?
Billy Jordan Mayer (BJM): I had been looking at job roles within my local community for pharmacy roles. My Universal Credit work coach at the Jobcentre had heard of the programme and recommended that I attend to see if it could help me find a role in a pharmacy.

WT: How have you found the programme?
BJM: I found the programme really interesting. Some of the sessions take place on Microsoft Teams which can occasionally be a bit glitchy but the skills tutors are experts in navigating anything that comes up.

WT: What were your favourite parts and why?
BJM: My favourite part of the programme was learning about the different roles within pharmacy and how all the different areas of healthcare interact. I also found learning about the GPhC really interesting, I didn’t really know a lot about how pharmacists had to be registered and had to abide by General Pharmaceutical Council guidelines.

WT: What are you going to do after you’ve completed the programme?
BJM: Through the help of the team at Woodspeen Training I am now currently on a Pharmacy Technician level 3 apprenticeship.
