Woodspeen Training unveils Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy

Training provider holds event to showcase how their new training programme will benefit the pharmacy sector 

Tuesday 18th June saw independent training provider, Woodspeen Training, hold a strongly attended event to launch their new Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy.  

As one of the largest providers of level 2 pharmacy apprenticeships in England, Woodspeen Training used its experience in the sector to develop a skills bootcamp, on behalf of Greater Manchester Combined Authority. The Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy has been designed to help pharmacy settings recruit staff to meet the demand for Pre Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPT’s). 

‘Bridging the Gap’ is a 10 week, fully-funded, pharmacy specific training programme that will support participants access an interview with an employer. The programme will give participants a broad understanding of the role and areas for career development once qualified.

The event, held at Woodspeen Training’s office in Oldham, Greater Manchester, outlined the benefits to employers. These include being able to access a pool of local job seekers with the right skills, reducing the cost of attracting and recruiting staff, and improving business productivity.  

For participants, the course offers the opportunity to understand the role of a Pharmacy Technician, learn about dispensing and how different medicines interact in the human body, and gain skills that will enable them to begin a career within pharmacy.  

With 7 cohorts, the first starting in July 2024, the Skills Bootcamp in Pharmacy will create a pipeline of talent to support the growing need for first line healthcare in Greater Manchester.
